Precise times
Echo is a copy of the sound that comes back after a gap you can count. Set the delay from a few hundredths of a second up to 0.8 seconds, and how strongly each repeat feeds the next. The wet signal is mixed at 45%. Delay at zero leaves the file untouched. Processing stays in your browser.
Echoes people actually want
- Put a short slap on a vocal so it sits in a room without turning to mush.
- Stretch a guitar hit or a drum into repeats that land on the beat.
- Hear a line come back once, clearly, instead of a cloud of reverb.
How to use the Echo
-
Drop your audio
Any MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC file. It is decoded on your device.
-
Set delay and repeats
Delay is the gap before the first copy, up to 0.8 s. Repeats is the feedback, capped at 55% so the loop cannot run away.
-
Preview and export
Play it, then export MP3 or WAV. The file grows by the tail of the repeats, up to 4 seconds.
Separate copies, not a wash
Echo delays a copy of the signal by the time you set, from a few hundredths of a second up to 0.8 seconds, and mixes that copy back at 45 percent. Each copy feeds the delay again at the repeat level you set.
Feedback is capped at 0.55 and the rendered tail at 4 seconds, so the repeats get quieter instead of howling. Delay at zero leaves the file untouched. Speed and pitch stay as they were.
How to use the two sliders
Delay is the gap before the first copy. Repeats is how much of each copy goes back in:
- A short delay for a slap you can still hear as a second hit.
- A longer delay, still under 0.8 seconds, when you want the copies counted one by one.
- A selection only, if the echo should sit on one phrase and not the rest of the file.
Echo is not slowed + reverb
Slowed + reverb drops the pitch with the speed and smears the tail into a room. This page keeps the original timing and adds copies you can hear separately.
Fading the start or end of one file is the fade page. Overlapping two songs is the audio joiner. Neither of those is an echo.
Echo FAQ
Is my audio uploaded?
No. The echo is a Web Audio delay inside your browser tab. After the page loads you can go offline and it still exports.
What does the effect actually do?
A copy of the signal is delayed by the time you set and mixed back at 45%. Each copy is fed into the delay again at the repeat level you set, up to 0.55, so the repeats get quieter instead of howling. WAV keeps that mix. MP3 re-encodes once.
How is this different from slowed + reverb?
Slowed + reverb is a wash: the pitch drops with the speed and the tail is a smear of room reflections. This page keeps the timing of the original and adds separate copies you can hear one by one. It does not change speed or pitch.
Why do the repeats stop getting louder?
Feedback is capped at 55% and the rendered tail is capped at 4 seconds. That is enough to hear several repeats. It will not become a self-oscillating noise.
Can I echo only part of a song?
Yes. Select the section on the waveform and keep that selection. The repeats are added to what you export, not to the rest of the file.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Both sliders and the export button work with touch in current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
