Turn heavy WAV recordings into compact MP3s without installing anything or sending your audio to a server. Drop the file, pick a bitrate — 320 kbps for music, 128 kbps for voice — and the conversion happens on your own device, usually in a couple of seconds.

How to use the WAV to MP3 Converter

  1. Drop your WAV

Drag a .wav file onto the page or click to browse. Other audio formats (M4A, FLAC, OGG) convert the same way.

  2. Pick a bitrate

320 kbps is indistinguishable from the original for almost everyone; 192 kbps is a good balance; 128 kbps keeps voice recordings small.

  3. Convert and download

Click Convert to MP3. The encoder runs in your browser and the MP3 downloads straight to your device.

Frequently asked questions

Will converting WAV to MP3 lose quality?

MP3 is lossy, so some information is discarded — but at 320 kbps virtually nobody can tell the difference from the WAV in a blind test. If you need zero loss, keep the WAV; this converter exists to save space and play everywhere.

Which bitrate should I choose?

Use 320 kbps for music you keep, 192 kbps for everyday listening and sharing, and 128 kbps for voice memos, podcasts and lecture recordings — speech needs far less than music.

How much smaller is the MP3?

Roughly a tenth of the size: a 50 MB WAV becomes about 4–5 MB at 192 kbps, and around 11 MB at 320 kbps. Exact numbers depend on the length and sample rate.

Are my WAV tags and artwork kept?

Not currently — the MP3 is written without metadata, so song title, artist and cover art are not carried over. You can re-add tags afterwards with any tag editor.

Does the WAV file get uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is decoded in your browser, encoded to MP3 by a small library loaded from a CDN, and saved back to your disk. The audio itself never leaves your device.
