Precise times
Drop a song or a voice recording and drag the pitch slider. The key changes and the timing stays put. Unlike the speed changer, this does not make the file shorter or longer. The shift runs on your device.
Pitch moves, the timeline does not
- Shift a song into an easier key for singing along. The file stays the same length.
- Move a voice a few semitones for a character, without speeding the line up.
- The faster-and-higher effect is the speed changer. This page does not shorten the audio.
How to use the Pitch Changer
-
Drop your file
Add an MP3, WAV, M4A or other audio file. It stays on your device.
-
Set the pitch
Drag from −12 to +12 semitones. +12 is one octave up, −12 is one octave down. 0 leaves the file as it is.
-
Preview and export
Play to hear the new key at the original length, then save as MP3 or WAV.
The key moves, the length stays
The pitch changer shifts the key from −12 to +12 semitones, one step at a time. That is one octave either way. The file stays the same length.
Speech and a single instrument stay usable further than a dense mix. A large shift sounds unnatural. It is not a copyright workaround: the recording is still the same recording.
When to use the slider
The length staying put is the whole point:
- A karaoke track moved into a key you can sing.
- A voice nudged a semitone or two so it sits with another take.
- A sound-design shift where the timing of the clip must not change.
Speed is the other control
The speed changer runs from 0.5× to 2× and moves the pitch with the tempo, the way a record does. 2× is about an octave up and half the length. This page does not do that.
Slowed + reverb also sinks the pitch by slowing the file, and it adds a tail. If you want the nightcore or slowed sound, that is the page. If you want the same duration and a new key, stay here.
Pitch Changer FAQ
Does this change how long the file is?
No. The pitch slider moves the key and leaves the duration alone. To make a file faster or slower — which also moves the pitch — use the speed changer.
How far can I shift the pitch?
From −12 to +12 semitones, in steps of 1. That is one octave in either direction. Speech and a single instrument stay usable further than a dense mix does.
Will a big shift sound natural?
Small moves, a few semitones, stay close to the original. Shifts past about 7 semitones get thinner and more metallic. That is the limit of this pitch shifter, not a setting you can turn off.
Is this the same as changing the speed?
No. The speed changer plays the file faster or slower, so the pitch rides along and the length changes. This page only moves the pitch.
Is the file uploaded?
No. The shift is calculated in your browser and the export is saved to your device.
Can I change a song’s pitch to avoid copyright?
No — a pitch shift does not remove the rights attached to a recording. A pitched-up upload can still be claimed or taken down. Change the key to suit your voice for singing or karaoke, and publish music you have the rights to.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Drag the waveform with a finger. Current Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on iPhone and Android decode the usual formats. A long file uses more memory, so a desktop is steadier past roughly an hour.
